Not Every Difficult Feeling Needs Emotional Healing: Some Need to Be Felt

We have become very good at trying to heal everything. Sadness needs processing. Anger needs releasing. Jealousy needs fixing. Regret needs reframing. Grief needs closure. Anxiety needs regulation. But what if some difficult feelings are not evidence that something is wrong with us? Sometimes sadness means something mattered. Anger means a line was crossed. Jealousy tells us what we still want. Regret tells us our standards have changed. And grief may simply be love that does not disappear because the calendar moved on. Not every uncomfortable feeling needs a treatment plan. Some need honesty. Some need time. Some need to be felt without turning them into a personal failure.
